Two Sun Decks (Lower on Deck 5-aft, and Upper on Deck 6) are fitted with sunbathing and shaded seating areas, putting green, deck-game area (shuffleboard). The ship has 5 lounges (2 with large outdoor terraces), Grand Dining Room (complimentary, glass-enclosed restaurant), Chart Room (Library Lounge), fore-located Main Lounge (deck 4), aft-located Sky Lounge (deck 4), indoor Gym/Exercise Room. The Upper Sun Deck (top-deck) is furnished with comfortable deckchairs and has 3 shaded seating areas plus one SkyLight (glass-roof cover). The company will introduce two more 100-passenger ships, the American Liberty and American Legend, which begin cruising in June and October 2024, respectively. From New York City, American Independence will cruise the Hudson River straight from the tip of Manhattan. They’ll enjoy a kaleidoscope of color offered by the Hudson River Valley’s fall foliage, visiting Sleepy Hollow, West Point, Hyde Park, and more.

The journey includes an American Cruise Lines jacket and gear pack, a pre-cruise hotel stay, all flights and hotels between cruise segments, daily excursions and entertainment, all meals and beverages, and wifi. American Cruise Lines has announced that it will be operating the longest-ever domestic cruise itinerary in the United States. The line’s new 60-day adventure, called The Great United States, explores 20 states across all four time zones in the U.S. Excursions to an olive oil ranch and mill, a honey and mead processing facility, and of course, wineries were popular enough to be sold out in advance. In Napa, tours ranged from vineyard and winery visits with tastings to a day on the Napa Wine Train and a winemaker for a day adventure.

Arts and crafts and games also focused on the region when possible – think making your own wine glass charms. The interior has a bright and open feel, with a central atrium-style lobby area traversing the five passenger decks. Staterooms all have private balconies, and are spacious by most cruise ship standards. Rooms have more of a hotel feel than a cruise ship feel because furnishings aren't built in, plus electrical outlets are standard 110-volt U.S. household wall plugs scattered generously around the room. Summer is the most popular season to visit the Pacific Northwest because of the long sunny days, warm temperatures, and blue skies.

American Jazz ship's 2023 schedule (February-March and November-December) included ACL's first-ever California voyage (departure February 24th). The 7-night/8-day "San Francisco Bay Cruise" itinerary (roundtrip from San Francisco) visits four other Californian ports (Stockton, Sacramento, Napa, Vallejo) and ends with an overnight in San Francisco. A pre-cruise hotel package (inclusive of San Francisco Four Season Hotel overnight stay) is optional.

In the evening, share in the company of fellow cruisers while listening to some of the area’s finest entertainment. Traditionally for large-sized US riverboats, American Jazz has a fore-located boarding ramp (bow-location on Deck 1) that allows passengers to go ashore at any place along the ship's cruise itinerary route. The ramp has an innovative design being constructed as a retractable gangway (passenger bridge). The technology is often implemented on some of the largest ferries and features an opening bow door.
